World Chicken Festival
The World Chicken Festival is an annual event held in (Laurel County) London, Kentucky, USA.
The festival celebrates the life of Colonel Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Laurel County is the home to the original KFC restaurant, founded in the 1940s. The festival takes place in downtown London, KY, on the last weekend in September. The festival is free to attend, however there are parking fees for certain areas.
==History==
The Chicken Festival began in 1989 to celebrate the life of Colonel Sanders. People from all around the state of Kentucky come to celebrate the heritage of Laurel County, the birthplace of the original Kentucky Fried Chicken. The original restaurant is located in Corbin, Kentucky as well as a museum dedicated to Colonel Sanders and the KFC legacy.
